Musubi editorial department goes!

[Musubi editorial department goes! ]

I watched a documentary movie called "Making Curry and Rice from Scratch" at the XNUMXth Art Theater, a theater movie theater in Juso, Osaka.

Yoshiharu Sekino, an explorer famous for his Great Journey, suggested to his student, a seminar student at Musashino Art University, "Why don't we try making food from scratch?"

He buys native seeds from Noguchi Seeds and starts growing vegetables and rice organically. The students went to the fields to receive instruction, and the lunch they brought was rice balls and sweet buns bought at the convenience store, while Mr. Sekino bought fair-trade organic bananas. I laughed.

As for the chicken, I tried to raise three ostrich chicks at first, but they all died, so I raised a silky rooster and a guinea fowl, and finally squeezed them and cooked them.

It was a seminar that did not give any credits, and the movie documented the efforts of the second year, but it seems that the number of students who were 200 at the beginning was reduced to about 20 in the end.

Many young people seem to think that when it comes to vegetables and rice, the seeds are planted and that's all there is to harvesting.

A student who began to face food said, "I came to think that the beautiful vegetables sold at the supermarket were strange."

It is said that the number of graduates working in the primary industry has increased, and it is said to be the "Sekino Seminar that changes lives."

Curry rice making continues this year, and this year is already the fourth year. One day, I might try to make Japanese food, so I guess the process of making miso will start from growing soybeans. "Please let me interview you at that time," I asked.

After the post-screening talk show and autograph session by Mr. Sekino and director Aki Maeda, I had the privilege of interviewing them both.

I would like to publish the detailed contents of the movie and the story of the interview in the November issue of "Musubi".

The film will be screened at Nanagei until September 15th.It will be screened in various places, so please check the website.

The previously introduced "Fruit of Life" is also showing a revival at Nanagei.
